We are looking forward to our Halloween celebrations on Friday 22nd October. The children are invited to wear costumes to school on Friday. All proceeds raised on the day will be donated to the Children’s Health Foundation. School closes for all pupils at 12 noon to facilitate Primary Language Curriculum training and re-opens at 9am on Monday 1st November. We wish our families a safe and enjoyable mid-term break.
Maths Week celebrations are well under way in All Saints’. The pupils will participate in a variety of activities in their classrooms. Throughout the week, the children will engage in station activities, trails, problem solving activities, board games, dice and card activities and much more! We are also exploring maths in our environment through the ‘Have You Got Maths Eyes?’ initiative.
Congratulations to all the boys and girls for working hard on their Green School’s Flag for Global Citizenship: Energy. For our next 2 year cycle we will be working on Global Citizenship: Marine.
We extended our best wishes to our secretary Cathy, who finished working in All Saints’ National School last week. She has been a wonderful secretary and colleague. We are very grateful for all she has done for our school and we are going to miss her. On behalf of the entire school community we wish Cathy every success and happiness for the future.
There was great excitement on our return to school as we discovered a nest containing some baby swallows. The boys and girls have given the baby swallows names and we are enjoying watching them grow. Did you know the Irish for swallow is fáinleog? Swallows build their nests from mud. They migrate to warmer places such as Africa during the winter months. Their forked tails make them easy to identify.
